Dec 1

A series shot at the Anthropologie stores on Fifth Avenue in New York and Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

I went to Birdland to see a friend’s holiday show. The red lighting made for some fun pictures, but they all proved to be too grainy in the low light, save for this one.

I love empty chairs because I always see an invisible conversation that has/will take place in them. People usually leave chairs positioned in the same way they sat in them.

On this particular day, I shot the blue booth chairs in Jamaica, Queens and the red chairs later that night in Times Square. The chairs on the High Line were from an earlier date.

Dec 4

A random sampling.

The puppets are my favorite. They look like a chorus of misfits.

The books are from one of my night tables.

The horse was stuck in traffic en route to Central Park.

The sleeping puppy is named Lucie.

Bergdorf Goodman’s holiday windows were my favorite this year. They combined Alice in Wonderland, and fairy tales with a sense of escapism. My camera ran out of battery midway through shooting, so I didn’t catch everything. I also added in a shot from the Barney’s window. Simon Doonan is brilliant and the Coneheads window was the best of his SNL theme.

Though this should be part of the “Let There be Light” series, it’s one of my favorite photos and I feel it should stand alone. It’s the New York Times building shot from the rear window of a taxi cab.
